Pirates Celebrate breaking 21 year playoff drought
Well, we are finished for another year for regular season MLB, and we are treated to a playoff game tomorrow at Tropicana Field, with the Rays hosting the Rangers (Price 9 – 8. 3.39 ERA vs Perez 10 – 5, 3.55 ERA), for the right to fly to Cleveland – and play the Indians at Progressive Field in the Wild Card Play in Game on Wednesday.
The Rangers are also eligible to welcome back Nelson Cruz to their lineup, as he has served his 50 game suspension for his part in the Biogenesis scandal.
With securing the best record in the AL, the Red Sox have pole vaulted the field to be the news odds on favorite in the MLB to bring home the World Series Trophy.
Atlanta and Los Angeles will have to play each other, as will Detroit and Oakland as set series. Of note, lookout for the Tigers on a long layoff to possibly struggle offensively in the series vs Oakland
Having to start on the road at o.co Coliseum is not going to be a picnic for the Motown Boys either,
I like Los Angeles running into the Braves in the 1st round as oppose to the Cardinals. The Zombie St. Louis club is one of the toughest teams to face this year with all of their playoff pedigree.
This was probably the reason they were overtaken as the favorite from just a few days back by Boston.
I really like both of the Winner of the game tomorrow (Rays or Rangers) and the Reds to win the Wild Card play in games on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
The Indians and Pirates will have sit for a day or 2, and are both riding winning streaks. I just can’t see the Pirates beating the Reds 4 games straight, with sweeping them this past weekend.
The odds for the Johnny Cueto ( 5 – 2, 2.82 ERA) led Reds and the Pirates Francisco Liriano (16 – 8, 3.02 ERA) has the Cincy club at +112 – as oppose to the Bucs -120 line.
This means you would profit $83.33 for the Pirates winning for a $100 bet, and $112 profit on a Reds bet.
The Indians will take a 10 game winning streak into the Post Season, but they mowed up on under .500 clubs, will have 2 days off, and will be ripe for the picking.
Since the Tribe used Ubaldo Jimenez, it looks like they are going to go with Rookie Danny Salazar in the contest. The Rays would likely go with Alex Cobb, and the Rangers would turn to Alexei Ogando, or even piggyback with Matt Garza if they win tomorrow first.
Check back later in the week for the LDS Previews. For the record, I say Tampa Bay wins both games on Monday and Wednesday, while the Reds will take down the Pirates.
